“Since parents have given children their life, they are bound by the most serious obligation to educate their offspring and therefore must be recognized as the primary and principal educators. This role in education is so important that only with difficulty can it be supplied where it is lacking. Parents are the ones who must create a family atmosphere animated by love and respect for God and man, in which the well-rounded personal and social education of children is fostered. Hence the family is the first school of the social virtues that every society needs. It is particularly in the Christian family, enriched by the grace and office of the sacrament of matrimony, that children should be taught from their early years to have a knowledge of God according to the faith received in Baptism, to worship Him, and to love their neighbor. Here, too, they find their first experience of a wholesome human society and of the Church. Finally, it is through the family that they are gradually led to a companionship with their fellowmen and with the people of God. Let parents, then, recognize the inestimable importance a truly Christian family has for the life and progress of God’s own people.”tance a truly Christian family has for the life and progress of God’s own people.”

2026-2027 Faith Formation Year

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Level 1 & 2 will be offered Sunday mornings from 10:15-11:45am

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Levels 1 & 3 will be offered Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm - 7:30pm.

Requirements for Faith Formation

1)   MASS ATTENDANCE:
Our program is based on the fact that the Holy Mass is the source and summit of our Catholic faith and worship. Participation in the Sunday and Holy Day Masses throughout the entire year, to include summer vacation time, will enhance and reinforce Catholic catechesis. Mass attendance needs to be a vital part of the practice of your faith, through which we gain the spiritual insight and strength to live a Christian life.

2)  CLASS ATTENDANCE:
It is the presumption of our Faith Formation program that you will attend class each Sunday or Wednesday. Class attendance is vital to learning the faith. Excessive absences (three or more), will result in repeating a grade and may exclude you from receiving the sacraments of First Penance, First Holy Communion and Confirmation. When a student returns to class after an absence, they should bring to the Catechist, a note of excuse from their parents.

3) CLASS PREPARATION:
Please arrive on time prepared to participate in class each Sunday or Wednesday. Sunday classes are held from 10:15-11:45am and Wednesday classes are from 6-7:30pm. Tardiness is disruptive to the class. Complete all work assigned by the Catechist. Seek help from parents when necessary.

4) DISCIPLINE:
Classes take place in a Christian setting with an atmosphere of understanding and respect for teachers, students and church property.

5) SAFETY:
No one will be allowed down the hallways once classes begin. In order to ensure the safety of all our students, it will be necessary for parent(s) to:

  • SUNDAY: Pick up their child in the social hall from their child’s Catechist or Catechetical Assistant, Atrium Level 1 will pick up from the classroom
  • WEDNESDAY:   Dismissal will be from the glass doors.

***NOTE:  If someone other than a parent will be picking up a student, it will be necessary to inform the parish office or your catechist before the class begins.
